Background
Marinus Pöhlmann studied law at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, specializing in public commercial law and environmental law in particular. During his studies in Munich and after passing the First State Examination in Law, he worked as a research assistant at the chair of Professor Dr Martin Burgi and at the Ludwig Fröhler Institute. He received his doctorate in European competition law and conducted research on European state aid law and public commercial law. He completed his legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, with stations at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and a law firm specializing in public law. After his first experience as a lawyer, he earned an LL.M. in Environmental Law at the University of California, Los Angeles (USA).
