Benedikt Wolfers advises companies and governments on national and international regulatory, product and environmental law issues. He gives advice in the finance, energy, automotive and infrastructure sectors, in disputes, negotiations, transactions, reorganisations, restructuring and new projects. He has extensive experience as a consultant in cases with high liability risks and crisis situations. Benedikt and his team are “especially in demand when existential questions of law arise for states, companies or entire sectors” (JUVE 2015/2016).

Background
Benedikt Wolfers studied law, politics, philosophy and history at the Universities of Freiburg i. Br., Munich and Oxford (Keble College). He completed his studies with theses on the philosophy of state by Hobbes and Aristotle and a dissertation at the Humboldt University in Berlin on an administrative law topic of German reunification. In 1996, he began working as a lawyer at the law firm Bruckhaus Westrick Stegemann in Düsseldorf, moving to the Berlin office in 1997, where he established the Environment Planning Regulatory - Public Commercial Law practice group together with Wolf Spieth. In 2000, he became a partner in the Berlin office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. In 2012, he took over from Wolf Spieth as co-leader of the Environment Planning Regulatory practice group and was responsible for the further expansion of public commercial law at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Benedikt Wolfers advised extensively on privatisation (and later reprivatisation) between 2000 and 2017. Benedikt Wolfers has been listed as a ‘leading name in public commercial law’ in various rankings (Chambers Global, Legal 500, Handelsblatt, JUVE) for many years. Benedikt Wolfers received the ‘Innovative Lawyer of the Year’ award from the Financial Times London for his advice in connection with financial market stabilisation. He is a regular speaker and author of numerous publications in the field of national and international regulatory and environmental law in the financial, energy, automotive and infrastructure sectors.
